Australia has published the Autonomous Sanctions (Designated Persons and Entities and Declared Persons – Thematic Sanctions) Amendment (No. 5) Instrument 2024. The amendment adds the listings of Maksim Viktorovich Yakubets, Igor Olegovich Turashev and Aleksandr Viktorovich Ryzhenkov to the significant cyber incidents designations under the Autonomous Sanctions (Designated Persons and Entities and Declared Persons—Thematic Sanctions) Instrument 2022.
Yakubets, Turashev and Ryzhenkov were designated for their roles in cybercrime gang, Evil Corp – press. Australia made the designations in co-ordination with the UK and US.
