Judge of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow
IZOTOVA, Tatiana Yurievna was appointed the justice of the peace at the judicial section 16 of the Northern Butovo district in Moscow by the Moscow City Duma of October 7, 2015. By a decree of the President of the Russian Federation of August 7, 2017, she was appointed the judge of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow.
Carrying out political repression using her official position.
On July 29, 2019, Judge Izotova imprisoned Yevgeny Kovalenko for two months. He was the first person involved in the Moscow Case, the criminal persecution of opposition activists who protested against the government’s refusal to register independent candidates for participation in the elections to the Moscow City Duma. According to investigators, the activist threw a garbage can at a Russian Guard officer, thereby “causing him physical pain and moral harm” by hitting his buttocks. On September 4, another judge of the Meshchansky District Court, Olesya Mendeleeva, sentenced Kovalenko to three and a half years in a penal colony under the article on the use of violence against a government official.
